There's one reason I keep logging in: the people. Ive been playing since Beta and I have met some of my best friends in that game. WoW forces you to interact with people - which is usually a mixed bag -but every once in a while you meet someone really great. Yes, people come and go - but you never lose touch with the ones that matter. We log in beat a boss we've beat a million times and sit in vent and laugh over a beer.
Also, I think in the bigger picture, WoW is accessible - for all the shortcomings and bugs in the game - WoW runs on just about any computer available today. It allows people who couldn't otherwise afford the equipment for some of the higher end games to see what all the fuss is about. And more gamers= more money in the industry which equals more variety of games in the end for us hardcore folks.

Mostly because it always gives you fantastic things to do? There are a lot of WoW haters out there just because there not big on questing and WoW is 90% questing. It keeps you busy, and causes you not to grind as much as you do in other games. That mixed with the good community. No one wants to lose there wow account they've spent so much money on, so everyone polite and nice. However I feel the max levels too easy to get to. Woah, that was really off topic -.-
