Fry's Big Disappointment

Added 04:53am Feb 13, 2012

Xbox 360

I went to Fry's in Atlanta today, and I was very disappointed. My Live subscription runs out in 15 days and I thought I'd pick up a year subscription card and it said $39.99 Limit: 1 per customer. I thought "Awesome! $20 off!" So I go on to the cash register and she says "$59.99." and I'm like wha? I had to go take a picture of the tag and show her because she didn't believe me.

So, she goes and gets a manager. They want to charge my card for $60 then refund back $20. If I do this, because I'm out of my general shopping area and the transactions are being manipulated visa will lock down my card and it's a hassle to get visa to unlock it. It's a security issue. They wouldn't actually price match, which they say they do. So I ended up not getting the card out of frustration.

Also, they refused to give me the managers number so I could speak to him about it. That was my 2nd venture to Fry's and probably my last since it's about 2 hours away.

@Matt the Gamer: They probably could, but since they recently went up $10 (within the last year, I think?) they're most likely making bank. Conjecture of course, but still. However, I do enjoy Live even though it's a paid subscription. But all I've been doing is playing Battlefield 3, and rarely at that. I lost a month of paid time while in China. I also only play with 1 friend, so...there's not much incentive to renew. I'll be getting Warriors Orochi 3 for the PS3 so I can do the online for free heh.

How's that for marketing...bait and switch. Just saw my Xbox live account subscription just came up. It's such a solid service but I wonder if they could go F2P like PS3.
