this is an easy game to contrast, WoW is a questing/grindfest kind of game. Guild Wars has a lvl 20 lvl cap, so you can get to the highest level and then focus on your skills instead of your level, giving you the ability to explore all fo guild wars fairly early. Guild Wars is limited to 8 skills in the field, the combinations of these skills play a large roll since the game is based on your personal skill. WoW lets you use ever skill you have ever learned.

Guild Wars PvP is separate from Pve but they greatly tie in together. items you discover in PvE are unlocked in PvP. Skills you unlock in PvE also unlock in PvP also heroes follow this rule as well. Skills unlocked in PvP carry on to PvE. Your heroes can use any ability thats under their profession that you have unlocked.

Skills that have been unlocked become unlocked for all characters on the account. so even a new character could get a skill that took you ages to find.

yes, final fantays XI is cross platform, people on xbox 360, ps2, ps3 (backwards compatible), and PC can be in the same place at the same time. There is no specific server dedicated to one platform either.
